Is belt of g37 is under warranty?!

Hey guys.. 2 days ago my engine belt snapped I dont know why.. but it just happened.. and im glad it did when i was close to home.. it was unbelievble its sooo hard to turn my steering wheels.. so on i arrive home.. i opened the hood and i found the belt is all over the radiator.. its like i can pull it off i want to.. so the next day i took to the dealer.. ofcourse by a recovery vehicle lool... they said that the belt is not under warranty... i was in hurry so i told them okey ill pay for it but just fix it and see whats wrong with it... Now before they call me and tell me that the car is finished.. i have a question is the belt really not covered under warranty?? I barely have 18k miles on my car.

Keep us posted man, I'm not sure belts fall under consumables (or do they?) not so early at least.

There's no way in hell an engine belt is not covered, right? Doesn't matter if its 18k as long as its under warranty. Did you also have to pay to transport to the dealer? At the very least that should be covered by roadside assistance.

A belt is a consumable, thus it would not be covered. Anything you would have to change normally while owning a car is not covered(Belts, Oil, Tires, Brake Pads), unless there is a design or production flaw that causes a failure.

I think KLB is right but still... A belt shouldn't be flyin at 18k unless there was a defect. If it were me, I'd be fighting it. If they won't budge, call Infiniti Consumer Affairs.

Belts are usually not covered on most car warranties, like brake pads, tires and fluids. Usually the maintenance requirements recommend replacing them at certain intervals as well. I think only the premium maintenance recommends a specific interval for timing & drive belt replacement and the others just say "inspect," meaning replace it when it looks like it's getting overly frayed and cracked.

Which belt was it, and how much was the replacement cost, just out of curiosity? Usually those run pretty expensive because of labor.

But I agree -- the belt should not have snapped at 18K. Depending on how new the car is you might want to fight that even still. You might have some recourse there.
