Where are the lift points on the G??

Ok so at the risk of sounding like a complete newbie and being totally flamed...

where are the lift points on the G? I want to take it into the auto hobby shop on base and use the hydraulic lift (the one with 4 swing arms, not the one you drive onto) and I dont want to destroy my G by trying to lift on some random part of the the undercharge.

Thanks for any help that you guys can offer

I can tell you were they are not....where some idiot lifted on my GT Spec brace and caused one to bend. Been trying to get a replacement from Mark at GT Spec for almost 4 months because I need just one small piece.

And I think it shows in the manual. If you have the right pads on the lift, you can lift just inside the places for the jack that comes with the car.

For a floor jack i place it right inside the railing where the notch is for the scissor lift. For a floor lift I just had my car in a shop with the 4 swing arm type and they just placed them relativly close to the stock points in front then like 6 inches in from the wheel in the back. The ridge for the scissor lift runs pretty much from wheel well to wheel well so it should be fine just about anywhere.

FYI: those "notches" you guys are referring to are called pinch welds.

ok, so can the swing arms of the lift go right on the pinch welds (are they thick enough?) or do they need to be set deeper in on another part of the frame?

It will be fine on that. Thats where the shop placed them on mine the other week. Part of it is dispersed into the side skirt. It may look like it is pushing the sides up into the body but it is fine. They go back to normal as soon as they set it back down.

+1 the notches. Don't go too far out otherwise you'll be lifting your side skirts instead of the car.

I will be lifting my G today with my family's hydraulic post lift with the swing arms. so to verify, it is FOR SURE ok to lift by the four pinch welds? because the other week I tried to lift by one pinch weld with a floor jack and it started bending the pinch weld. so I had to lift from a different spot. now might it be a different outcome today because im lifting from 4 spots at the same time vs. one spot with a floor jack?

I use a hockey puck with my jack at home so that I dont destroy the pinch weld.

Pinch welds are as close as you get to a frame on unibody automobiles. Anywhere along the pinch welds should be fine
