Got into a bad accident, need your help

So today I was in a bad accident. Basically what happened was a stupid bicyclist came out in front of my and I hit him. Cops said it was his fault and sent both of us on our way. No tickets were issued but they did file a police report.

I didn't realize how bad the damage was till I got home.

Smashed front bumper
Smashed left taillight
Dented and scratched front fender
Scratched hood
Dented and scratched driver door
cracked a-pillar

Now how do I go about doing this. It's a few thousand dollars in damage at least and I have a $750 deductable.

This isn't my fault and I shouldn't have to pay for the damages.

Do you have the cyclists contact details? You should at least talk him into splitting the deductable or something, if he doesn't cooperate, you can press charges.

I don't have the contact details. I was flustered right after the accident so i didn't think of doing that.

Also, now my premiums are going to go up

I am pretty sure the police report will have all the contact details

Contact the police, get his contact information and file it on his homeowners insurance.

Or have your insurance cover it and then subrogate against his homeowners insurance.

Something doesn't add up. You got in a bad accident with a bicyclist, but he was sent on his way. With that damage that cyclist will likely need medical attention. You need to call your insurance ASAP in case he tries to claim medical expenses regardless of what the police said at the scene especially if they don't say it's his fault in their report. Insurance is for this purpose - it sucks if you have to pay your deductible but you should worry more about protecting yourself with your liability coverage. Lawyers have a way of trying to get your insurance to cover some of their client's expenses regardless of fault and it's often cheaper for the insurance company to settle than fight it in court.

WTF all that just from hitting a guy on a bike and he walked away ok, and how did he manage to smash the taillight? Did he fly in the air and come landing down on teh back side of your car...this all sound too fishy...

All of those seem legit to me except for the smashed tail light. If you hit him up front then I could see his body falling all over the top and side of the car.

Did you back up into him while he was down?

Maybe he got hit from the rear as well from attempting to stop after hitting the bicyclist?
