Infiniti brand Oil filter?

I am getting my first oil change this Saturday. I called and asked about bringing my own Mobil 1 oil and filter and tech said that I should just use the Infiniti filter because it was made for the car. He said he's seen many problems from people using other filters. He said it's only a couple of dollars for the infiniti one, so it doesn't seem like it's something worth lying to me about. I was wondering what you guys thought about that. Thanks.

If your bringing it in to the dealer just let them use the OEM one. Most OEM filters are manufactured by 3rd party anyway and meets the requirements. If you're doing your own oil change then use what you prefer.

Personally I feel M1 filters are expensive and no better than Napa Gold (Wix) or Purolator PureOne which both are also synthetic media. The weakest link is usually the construction of the filter, i.e. check valve, seal, case.

I used a few aftermarket filters and had an issue with it... they leaked! Stuck with the oil filter OEM and it works great - plus eliminates the leak. I do my own oil changes and use Eneos 5w-30
