Oil change every 7,500 miles?!
Oil change every 7,500 miles?!
Is it true that we are suppose to do oil changes every 7,500/6 months now instead of 3750/3months?
I just called my local dealership to make an appointment for my first oil change since its been 3 months but I was told that I did not need to do one until our 7,500 miles/6 months service. She stated that they received word (2 weeks ago) from Infiniti that the oil used for the G37s are somewhat synthetic and that we are only required to change oil with our 7,500miles/6 months service. Please advise.
Thanks,
Rai

I went to the dealership today and they still recommended I change my first oil at 7,500 miles because they said I'm using Ester full Synthetic oil. For just an oil change at 7,500 they are charging $199.99!!! Is anyone getting this same price?!? For that price, I expect atleast 15,000 miles/1yr not half a year.

The Nissan Ester oil is conventional oil, not synthetic. Unless they changed your oil at delivery to RedLine, Motul or Eneos, you do not have ester based synthetic.
My first year of service is free. They did a 1000 mile inspection and recommend the first change at 3750 miles, after that, 7500 mile changes, per owners manual based on normal use. My Acura RL had a maintenace minder which took into account driving style, average engine speeds, time and mileage. The car basically told me I needed service roughly every 7500 miles. I'll most likely do the same with the Infiniti. I'm not aware of any good evidence to suggest more frequent oil changes will benefit the car, or the environment for that matter, based on similar driving factors.
