K&N filters don't give appreciably more airflow than the OEM filter and yet they filter worse. Their only advantage is that you can clean it and re-use it.

The Amsoil filters are cleanable/re-usable and are dry, and rumor has it they filter better and allow better air flow (marginally) than stock.

Basically the EAA74 is the size that the old single intake VQ took. I can't imagine the current gen sedan w/ the twin intakes would take this filter, so I dunno wtf is up.

I'm gonna contact amsoil and try again
Oh! By the way, I meant to apologize for leading you in the wrong direction. Thanks for giving it a try though. I hope amsoil will fix the situation, especially since the filter selector is jacked up for vehicles that it's supposed to list!

Hey not your fault, I figured they'd list the new sedan correctly -- just like you thought.

No worries

^ hey, any updates on this?

I looked at my filters in the car - and the Nissan part # is 16546 JK20A, which so happens to be the same one as the 07+ G35 and 350z's:

http://www.g35parts.com/9083/osc/pro...roducts_id=602

(the image there is wrong).

I measured mine and it was 7 1/8" x 6 5/8" by 1 1/4". That matches the K&N part number wehad, except it's just 1/4" deeper, which isn't a big deal I think,

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2399

Anyhow, my feeling is that Amsoil should probably have something that would work. did you ever get any info from them?

I'm going to try to find a phone number or something to contact them at...

Amsoil is totally confused as far as I could tell. The short story is that they do not have a filter for the 07 sedans or the g37 coupe, or anything that uses the new twin intake set up. I went out and bought Nissan ones for now.

Here's the last email from Amsoil to me:
"Well I think that we are both right to an extent, the filter you have
will not work for the 2008 G37 (which you already know) that car takes a
completely different filter that Wix our filter partner has yet to start
producing, and the lookup isn't wrong just lacking information. The 2008
G35 Sedan does take the Eaa74 and the Coupe does not, which is not
listed on the Online Lookup Guide which is a mistake that we are going
to fix asap.

The 2008 G35 Coupe is what is being listed on the Lookup Guide not the
sedan but that is a mistake that needs to be corrected. I think that is
where the miscommunication happened. We list the 74 for the G35 with no
clarification between the two body styles. I apologize again for the
miscommunication. If you would like to return that filter for either a
reimbursement since we do not currently have a replacement please feel
free to do so, if you have any other further questions please email me
further."

Of course, that's incorrect, but it gets the idea across that they are not sure what they are doing regarding the infiniti cars and air filters for them at moment.

Seems like a waste of time to me to go to an autoparts store, open your hood, remove the air filter cover, bring the air filter into the store (remembering to put the cover back on so more dirt does not get into the filter cannister), only to be told "we don't have anything, go to the dealer".

See, the only choices right now are K&N or the dealer. No aftermarket supplier currently makes a replacement air filter. Purolater has given the filter a product number, and has designed an air filter, but production is not yet scheduled.

What would be the second "easiest way to do it"?

Not a fan of the K&N filter. Maybe filtration is good but it's a cotton gauze filter that needs to be re-oiled after you wash it.... the cotton generally shrinks after you wash it leading to worse filtration. At least that's what I heard. The oil also does work its way into the motor if you put too much oil on it.
