Need help with shift boot

I hope I'm not bringing up something old but I tried a search and it didn't help.
I want to remove my shift boot but I'm running into trouble. I got the frame detatched from the center console and removed the screw in the rear right in front of the little storage compartment in the center and now I'm stuck. I removed the little plastic zip tie but I can't figure out how to get the shift **** off or remove the boot from the plastic with out destroying everything. Any suggestions?
