Unhappy Help - G37 Wire Harness Flex - I Need More!

Dying here. This project is becoming a bit of nightmare. And need some assistance.

I have a head gasket leak on the driver. I thought "Might as well do both." So far no dice. I can't even remove the head gasket cover from the driver side. I just don't have enough give. I watched a number of videos. They're excellent; both are below:

Both video show SO much give in the harness. I released the same clips and removed the same parts as they did; no dice.. The rear passenger side of mine feels right against the cover.

Here is a video of my car engine bay showing my issue:

Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I am noticing EVERYONE changes the covers while they do the gasket. Is that necessary? Asking for a friend here. lol.

Best,
NoviceAtBest,

Just did mines & yes it was a lil tight

- 1st if have not already disconnect your Negative battery but be sure to open your trunk in case
- maybe you would need to disconnect some clip + plug on the right side near firewall to give it more slack
- the sensor (orange plug on right side attached to valve cover, i used a plier & hold one end of plug & hand to press the one end clip & pull away.. it should disconnect.. then once you have enough room go underneath valve cover to unclip the orange + i think you would need to unclip one on the ledt side too
- take the oil cap off & go to right & slide the cover up toward the left side up and out
- yeah it will be tricky putting back but do it in reverse & double check the gasket when you are ready to screw the screw in ,, triple check the gasket including the spark plug gasket

Passenger side tip:
- a lil easier but remove the fuel damper for easy access + better easy cleaning

Hope this helps. GL

GREAT VIDEOS! I watched them. I can't thank you enough, but I am STILL...running into an issue on the rear diver side by the firewall.

Here's a 76 second video showing what I am running into. I am concerned too that some of the wire harness tape is so brittle; it's straight falling of in some areas I simply had to remove it.

GOT IT! You've got to slide it DOWN towards the floor not UP and over the cam shaft. All praise be to God.

Now I another issue. Ugh...

It is CRYSTAL clear that someone put gasket dressing sealant around the ENTIRE valve cover on the passenger side. It won't budge a dang millimeter. I already broke of two harness clips trying to use a rubber mallet. I need a solution. I tried running a razor gently alongside the one side to break it. It got through, but it STILL won't budge.

Any solutions? Spray? Heat? Talk to me.
