Do I need an entirely new Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly?
Mechanic checked the readings using a multimeter and said it was dead... Do I need an entirely new Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly, or can I just buy a new Fuel Sending Unit (see 2nd pic) and replace it within the existing Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly Unit?? I can't tell if something else within the Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly Unit could be defective or not working. Please advise.
What, exactly, is "dead?" Or, better yet, what are your symptoms?
If it's fuel level, have you checked the meter amp? These are becoming notorious for going out due to a bad resistor/ solder connection.
Fuel gauge isnt reporting accurately, it's always off by 50% or more. We have tried cleaning both fuel sensors already. The fuel sensor within the Fuel Pump & Housing Assembly was not reporting proper readings, as checked by the multimeter...
Per the FSM, the main sending unit can be replaced individually. You do not have to replace the entire assembly and it appears to be a straight-forward task.
However, the "sub fuel level sensor" (the one on the driver-side) can not be serviced individually and therefore the whole assembly must be replaced.

Sounds like the AC Amplifier control module. Most mechanics wont diagnose it if they don't know to look for this unique issue. I went through the whole swapping both the sending unit and the non-pump fuel level meter, replaced a lot of stuff.... and nothing. Took a few weeks of digging through obscure sources and old circuit diagrams to figure this out. The AC Amp module controls some of the signals used to communicate to the cluster what your fuel level is. Mine blew years ago, grabbed a used one off ebay for $50 and fixed the issue. Actually it blew again last week, so I just ordered another one, except they went up in price to like $75-100. They're somehow coded to the year and region your car was made for, so you need to find one with the exact same number on it as yours. So you would need to take apart your center dash, look for a white plastic box either on top or below the nav screen (depends on year of the car and on what kind of tech package you have), and write down the number printed on it in black and search for that exact version. For example mine is 27760 1NM6B (https://www.ebay.ca/itm/326668069680...control+module). You may need to reset the air bag light after reinstalling the dash. Once it arrives, just swap them, reset airbag light and it should work. Now this isn't 100% guaranteed to fix your issue, but I would say its a 90% chance this is the cause. I've helped 6 other people fix this exact issue, so I'm fairly confident.
