Stuttering at Idle, Drive, Park, etc.
Stuttering at Idle, Drive, Park, etc.
Hi,
I have a 3.7 2014 with 200k miles. Previous work that was done to the vehicle that I feel is correlated is that one of the maf sensors was replaced and the fuel pump was replaced by previous owner.
I recently got this vehicle so besides all of the work Iv done to it not sure whats been done previously besides what the owner told me was the fuel pump. I noticed that when I turn the vehicle on It runs fine with a intermittent stutter that occurs every 30 seconds or so and lasts for about a second. During this the rpms drop but they pick back up immediately when the stutter stops. Its basically as if the engine had a quick fumble for a second and then runs fine until it happens again for a split second.
My plan is to clean maf sensors, Throttle bodies, and attempt the relearn. If this does not work then on to spark plugs etc.

It ended up being a combination of the cheap OBD scanner I had and the culprit was a missfire. I learned that the best option was to go with the cheapest first so thats why everything I stated I was going to try next was free or cost basically nothing. I ended up taking it to my mechanic for a quick diagnostic and his scanner immediately picked up multiple missfires in cylinder 2. After checking the cylinder we saw that whoever previously installed the spark plug must have dropped it as there was no gap whatsoever. With that the Stutter slightly went away, now it occurs every few minutes but I am going to replace all sparks and coils when they arrive so will notify what happens.
