Weird G37 sedan engine issue

Hey guys, about a month ago I started hearing some slight rattle right before shifting on my 2009 g37x sedan, I was going to change the oil cause I read that might be the cause, but a day or 2 after hearing the noise I was driving on the highway and my car suddenly died and wouldn’t start anymore, after getting home and jumping it it sounded like a spun bearing, but I’m curious, would a spun bearing cause the car to just loose all power and die like that? Also had to have the car connected to a jumper to even start the car again. Won’t start without a jumper now, thanks in advance for the replies

Have you actually ever experienced or heard a spun bearing? The engine would usually stop immediately and you'd hear noises that would tell you that your VQ27VHR was toast. If the G started up again, that was no spun bearing. More likely is a battery going dead, or poor connections somewhere in your car.

After I got the car towed back home I had to jump the car in order for it to start, at this time I was under the impression that maybe my alternator was bad, after jumpstarting it the engine sounded really bad and I was told by multiple people it was a spun bearing, I just found it kind of odd that it just suddenly died

You didn't mention how many miles are on your G, or how its been maintained. If the car runs poorly and has internal grinding or pounding- simply don't start it. Have it towed to a Nissan specialist to have a proper diagnostic done before irreparable damage is done.

Car had 180k miles at the time, I did the oil change every 3k miles and took it to the dealer and they said it had been serviced most of its life at the dealer from the previous owner (I bought it at 140k miles) I just wanted to see if maybe someone on the forums thought had any suggestions because I found it weird that it starts, but with a jump now, but I guess it seems like I’ll be replacing the engine
