Considering replacing engine
Considering replacing engine
So, I'm nearing 150k and having some off and on ongoing issues ...p0603, P0300-01,03,p2135...it all started after I swapped all my plugs, cleaned TB MAF, PCV and then roughest a$$ idle and all these codes came on..some of the 0300 change ...have a slight leak in #5 and #6 so need valve and plug gasket etc..was considering diy as most quotes including plugs are 800....
So...a friends coworker mentioned he did a swap to his g35 and has been going smoothly for 3 yrs and I'm trying to find out if any have done this (rwd) and where did you get engine, what shop any tips for me to consider this route?
I plan to keep car for a long while and seeing used car prices, hoping this is a viable route etc...appreciate inputs and any ideas and cons or pros etc of going this route vs getting current engine ironed out...
thanks

What's your budget?
Z1 has a short block for under 4K: https://www.z1motorsports.com/long-a...RoCp9gQAvD_BwE
Not sure what refurbishing the heads would cost. Likely less than added cost of a long block from Z1: https://www.z1motorsports.com/long-a...a359b03d870eb2
I would likely start with Motoiq if I were to take this route at some point: https://motoiq.com/pro-services/

Besides price, what's the benefit of long block vs short? Does labor increase drastically with long block etc?
Also, budget is anything less than a used/ new to me car lol, however, since it's a DD then would go the least expensive route....I'm just seeing potential $$ for repairs and the idea of a new engine as then I wouldn't mind throwing more $$ into maintaining for the long run vs the gradual creep up to 200k miles and beyond ...

If I were to guess, parts and labor to recondition the old heads would likely be a little less than the added cost of the long block (which is nearly double). Advantage of the long block is that you would have a brand new long block engine from Nissan. Both would help resale should you decide to sell.
There also alot of vendors online that offer lower mileage used JDM engines: https://usedjdmengine.com/nissan/pri...l-motors/10553
Maybe some of the others in the community have experience working with one of these vendors? It's a naturally aspirated motor, so chances are it's still in pretty good shape at advertised mileage. You can ask what type of testing they do on the motor (i.e. compression, leakdown, etc.).
