Top mounted hanging pedal conversion

Hello all!

New here, and have been looking at the G37 manuals as the car is pretty much everything I want, except one tiny problem.. I hate floor mounted pedal. I've driven them before and I always get irritated with them for some reason, so I'm not a big fan. Has anyone ever done a conversion for the floor mounted pedal to a hanging top mounted pedal?

This might be a bit of a mission for you. The G/Z pedal for dual throttle V6 is an assembly on it's own. Part of the accelerator electronics are part of the pedal while the other side is part of the sensor. In previous years you had a double channel TPS sensor mounted to a metal pedal. The voltages are different.

In reality you'd have to find a similar pedal, maybe something from another Nissan, maybe around those same years. It is unknown if an accelerator pedal from the same brand from a single throttle vehicle will work with yours or even self calibrate correctly but its up to you to figure it out. Many people actually like the floor mounted pedal. It's actually common in the sport world and racing too.

Before you go into this endeavor You should try taking yours off and cleaning it as well as putting some silicone grease around some of the plastic to plastic surfaces.
I had to so on a pedal I bought from the Junk Yard. It might decrease some of the friction and get you to change your mind over this.

Even with swaps folks have to use this pedal so plenty of folks.

This will be a completely waste of your time and money over a simple behavioral change.

I certainly wouldn't try to retrofit a top-hinged pedal. But, you could try an RJM unit, they come highly recommended:

I am going to pick one up soonish and install it.

Thanks,

Rick

The only type of floor mounted pedal is the accelerator pedal which is the pedal the OP wants as a hanging one like previous models.

I really am not used to the floor pedal I still use the ***** of my foot to accelerate rather than my whole foot and it has been 2 weeks haha. It's weird because it feels like I have to press it more to get to the same revs as I would in a hanging/top mount pedal.

I get what you mean. I typically rest the heel and use the big toe for acceleration.

It's easier and cheaper to correct behavior than to go down the pedal route.

The OEM pedal cannot be separated from the sensor
APP sensor interacts with almost every module in the car
Finding a spot on the inside of the firewall to mount the pedal will be a nightmare

Expect possibly to be a $500 job. $300 average for if such pedal exists and $200 labor.

Hopefully those prices can get your subconscious to calm the F down and learn something new.

On another note, learning how to drive with a floor mounted pedal will help you drive other vehicles, especially in the exotic and supercar world.
