Are there aftermarket radiator support covers out there?

Anyone know of any IG people or companies selling improved versions of these?

Mine has had a broken hole and a crack in it for a while and I'm considering buying one of the OEM ones, but was wondering if there's a better option.

For those who don't understand, I'm referring to these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/392125672001

I've seen a guy on ebay that sells hydrodipped ones, but I think underneath they're the stock one. I've never seen an aftermarket replacement - I imagine you could roll your own with aluminum sheet (such as road sign material).

I've never run across it here on the forum, and I've been here for a while.

However, I think I've seen them hydrodipped, like Mike said, and that's pretty cool. Or for a more clean approach, consider having it primed and painted gloss black. I've always thought that would look good. The downside to doing anything with the radiator shroud is that you have to muscle it in and out, and I'd be worried about damaging the finish.

Personally, I use Maguiar's Tire Gel on matte black plastics like the radiator shroud. You'd be amazed how good it looks with that simple trick.

Found this: https://www.outcastgarage.com/collec...ing-panel-370z

Not sure if 370Z fits the G37. Might be easier to make one.

Cool, though I've heard that site isn't too reputable.

Mostly as an example. Looking at them, I don't think it has enough cutouts for the G.

I made these from road sign (find a metal scrapyard, they'll have slightly abused signs as scrap) for RX7s all the time. Cardboard template and then drill/jig saw with proper blade. Signs are nice 1mm 6061-T6 aluminum. Sand and paint.

I've considered making a splitter, that comes from the top of the lower grille to the top of the radiator (so the air filters/oem intake spot will be the only thing getting air from the upper grille) to increase efficiency a tad. Need to block off the sides and bottom of the radiator better if I do that though - you want an actual pressure differential.

It's because of the weird shape it has and how it has tabs that lock into the bumper and support to add support as well.

This part has to be decently strong which is why it's thick.

Then comes the other aspect of will an aftermarket cover will survive the abuse ( needs to survive high air pressures as well)

I just dont think there is a market for it being that most of it's traffic would be from folks who want to show it off and if your engine bay looks crappy or nothing special on it you definitely want to keep the hood closed.

Buy a new one and dip it, dipping a used one might end up in the same results.

That all sounds great, I just don't know if dipping just this piece is worth it or if it will look out of place with nothing else modified. Might have to go dipping the battery and brake fluid covers at least.
