VDC Error light on, limp mode engaged, transmission locked
2012 Infiniti G37 Sedan Journey
Auto transmission,Almost 200k miles!
Hey everyone, apologies if this is not the right section to post but I searched the forums and could not find this subject. Others dealt with brake issues when the VDC Error light engages, but mine comes on and often times after that, the transmission has issues. It's a really hard shift from first to second, then a really hard shift from second to third and when it's in third, it won't shift to fourth gear... I have to pull the car to the side of the road, turn the car on and off several times until the error light goes away. Sometimes I'll need to do this at every stop light so as you can imagine it's frustrating. Other than when the error comes on, the transmission works fine. Taken to several mechanics and still no fix.
It seems to happen in warmer temps or if the cars been running awhile. It'll act really bad for a week... And then go several weeks without issue. I got the car tuned up and replaced cats and a muffler... She rode nice for weeks and all of a sudden went back to bad for New Years on my road trip to Houston. Oh and turning VDC off does not help at all. 😔
Please help! It seems electrical but I don't know where to start! TIA She drives fine until this pops up and then the transmission goes crazy... Hard shifts from gears 1-3 and won't shift to 4th until I restart the vehicle a few times to make the error go away.
Hello, I have not checked the fuses, I'm not very mechanical but didn't think of the fuses considering it works most of the time but then acts up until we turn the car off and on or let the car rest for a while. I always thought that once a fuse goes, it's gone and will not work anymore.
My friend recommended to replace the ABS (VDC) Relay switch but I'm not able to find any part when I'm looking around for replacements. Any insight if that's something we can replace? I'll look at the fuse replacement!
