Bad cats

So my cats are done... and wondering for those that went aftermarket, any input and was the O2 codes the biggest issues.. and if i keep the stock muffler, does that give a loud or same exhaust sound?
The car is a dd that i only drive weekends so seeing oem/new cat prices just trying to figure out best route..
also, would gutting the cats be similar to straight pipes... ?

I've had my Fast Intentions resonated cats on the car for 8 years now, and no CEL. FI uses a J-shaped connector extension for the O2 sensors.

Your exhaust will be louder, but less so if the cats are resonated, and certainly manageable if you keep your stock catback.

Back in 2014, I drove the car for a year after swapping out the cats but keeping the stock catback.

Thanks on the info...they are definitely less expensive than oems ... and yes, for now, just thinking on keeping stock exhaust and just replace the cats themselves ...
from all the reading, you seem very meticulous on what you put in your car so will definitely keep these at top of lists.

I have Invidia high flow cats over 60000 miles along with their Q300 cat back exhaust with burnt titanium tips. Never had any CELs and, combined with Injen full CAI sounds and runs awesome, deep rumble no rasp or drone. Quality for the price is amazing.

Damn....it's like i had no frigging idea these prices existed...i figured they would all be near 1k plus or something for aftermarkets...just a presumption on my part...well...have a lot of stuff going on and had the mechanic install oem's...costly..now i wish i wouldn't have and save $1/2 or so and still get to enjoy car....
