On my way home my brakes failed, drove it home and I saw this. I bought those Z1 Motorsports 370Z / G37 Stainless Steel Brake Lines back in 2020.
I dont know how and why but it seems like the tire were rubbing of on it. I just ordered a new line should be in canada by Saturday.
Tks in advance.
That's an abrasion/friction failure. It seems like you're right the tire was rubbing against the line and it ruptured.
The good thing here is that the issue should still be there after you replace the line.
I would try and replace the line with the tire installed and turn the steering wheel lock to lock. this will show where and how the line is moving.
Many times as you install aftermarket brake lines they need to be tightened with a twist so when the wheel turns the loop doesn't move towards the wheel.
Paying better attention to this with the new one will fix the problem, at the same time look at the other side as it could be going through the same thing.
If these are the basic Z1 lines (IE not the ones with the brass block in the middle) it helps to clamp them at the knuckle and rear side of knuckle. Check my build thread in sig and search brakes - I've got some decent install pics there, and I've had zero rubbing.
The Z1 basic lines just have two sliding brackets and no instructions. Not only are they cheaper than the ones with the proper brass blocks, they have fewer connections - always (well, usually) a good thing for a hydraulic system.
When I look at the pictures, I think that the Z1 Motorsports Stainless Steel Brake lines are a bit to long compare to the Stoptech and that may be the problem. I may invest in them in the future.
Or you could have Z1 upgrade your replacement to the more expensive lines, which include the brass mounting blocks and are stock length. Might have to pay the difference.
