Test pipes, Catback & long intakes. Just trying to see how far I am willing to go before I get a tune. Or do I really need one.

Asking "how far" implies you're not done. What's next? As a general rule of thumb, assuming you're only going to tune once, is to get to the end of your mod plans first. I mean, what else for you is in the works that would impact the tune?

With test pipes, CB and a long tube CAI, you don't need to tune, but would certainly benefit if you did. The car would run better, and there's likely 15 to 20 hp lurking under the curve that you'd like to have.

Times? IDK. No matter what you do with it, without boost it will always be a mid 13 second car.

Without a tune, your car is never going to use whatever mods you do in harmony. After installing everything, I went to the dyno and my car was pig rich. Like @Rochester said, I picked up 20whp before 5250 and as high as 30whp by red line. Car drove so much better though - It's hard to describe.

Moderate bolt on's (Intakes, free flowing exhaust), suspension and a tire on a G37 with a tune is about as close to a perfect daily driver as you can achieve. 300+whp, comfortable, handles well, 25+ MPG (pending you right foot), reliable and not a difficult car to work on.

Thanx man Been trying to decide what to do. I know the tune will be the last thing. What kind of track times did your car get before the tune. Here is my best one.

Lots of NA FBOs running high 12s, a few even mid 12s on dragy leaderboards.

if you are 13.3 a tune will likely get you 13.0-13.1, some weight reduction and/or a longtube header would push you into 12s.

Better driveability, throttle response, more "awake" feeling. These were the characteristics I noticed on my bike after installing performance air filter, slip on exhaust and a proper dyno tune for the power commander.

Gained about 20hp at the wheel (~150hp), and ~10 ft lb torque.

For what it's worth, here are my wrap-up comments after last year's remote tune:

Okay, that time is not valid it is basically going downhill. The slop you want to say in 0 to 1%. I am in Texas, and the weather I did those runs was 50-60F.

Is that the Draggy you're grabbing screenshots from?

https://dragymotorsports.com/

Man, I wish I had known about that for before/after review on certain mods.

Not all roads are perfectly flat. Not the country roads where I am from. Still ran it. Going up hill on this one

Guy I sold my Rays to has run high-12s with just bolt ons, bought the rays to run a street slick because he couldn’t hook with his 6m rwd.
