Exclamation Power steering question

I’m sorry for asking this because it isn’t really specific to the G37’s, but my G’s power steering whines and is resisting turning ONLY when i am not moving, In example when i am Parking and i stop to backup, the problem happens.

I already drained the system and replaced the fluid, It didn't solve the problem. And the belt is also good and not crack.

I already bought a new pump and will be replacing it (probably myself, I am not a mechanic clearly but am trying to learn how to do these things myself ), but if anyone has any insight on to if the problem is actually is or if it is the pump, I would greatly appreciate it.

If it whines at a stop it’s usually because of a worn pump, or possibly a blockage. Also, draining and filling changes less than half the fluid in the system I’d say.

In park, if you blip the throttle and try to turn does it get rid of the resistance? That will indicate pump, mine did that before failing. What's your year/mileage?

It does exactly that if i am not moving it resists and whines but when i start to move and blip the throttle it starts to work. And it works fine when driving aswell.

I have a 2013 G37x sedan. 123k miles and to me it looks like the OEM Infiniti power steering pump.

I appreciate the help aswell, thank you!

Whining= pump. Nothing you can do but replacing will help diagnose further.
Make sure you use ATF for fluid and you should be fine.

Yeah unfortunately it's time to sort out a new pump. Mine went at 68k kilometers surprisingly. About 42k miles.

Ye i appreciate it, kinda was hoping that it wasn’t but at this point all the signs point to it.
