I’ve been wanting to change my grille recently on my 2011 blue slate g37 sedan, mostly because I hate the chrome. I’m deciding between an all black gloss grill with chrome emblem, or black grill with chrome border and emblem. I’m not sure how the black will look directly next to the blue slate, so I was wondering if anyone could share an opinion or photos. I do plan to delete the chrome around the windows too.
If you're considering full black grille I would also recommend blacking out the chrome fog light rings and possibly even getting the headlight shrouds painted in black. That will complete the look.
How much was this and where did you get it from, I’m considering painting the grill myself to match yours.
I got it from an Infiniti dealership's ebay store, and it was around $400. The price on these has increased dramatically over the years. When I had my previous G sedan in 2013, the OEM midnight grilles could have been had for about $150.
eBay does have clone versions of the OEM midnight grille for about $150, but I can not speak as to their fitment or durability. I did consider painting my OEM grille to match the midnight scheme, but I decided against it, because I am sure I would not have done the greatest job. If you have decent painting skills, I'd say go for it. You can save a good amount of money by going that route!
It can be pricy, but the oem black grille looks awesome. much better than the all chrome. IF you do not plan on blacking out the side chrome trim then the chrome around the grille matches perfectly with it.
