Maybe the lugs are just not a very good quality aluminum and are too soft to hold the torque?
Im not able to check the lug nuts themselves right now but i had a picture of their box, they are 12x1.25. CarID also sent out a set of extended spline drive lugs, 12x1.25 but i know thats not going to change the amount of thread engagement. I may get a new set of hub rings and try them.

There's your problem. You can clearly see that those are the wrong size hub rings.

When the lugnut is screwed back on, how many revolutions does it take to seat? If your mechanic is correct, it should be no more than 2.

Last I used hubrings, the fitment to the wheel was relatively snug. Fitment to the hub had a minute amount of play, but not loose either.

If you have a set of steel lugs and the shop said the lugs were a problem I would change them as well, but make sure the rings fit snug to the wheel and the hub.
FYI-I have run wheels several times before without centering rings, actually I ran G35 wheels on my old Honda with no spacers, and they’re still on there working fine.

How’s that? The hub should be 66.1, so if they’re 66.02 they would fit tight to the hub for sure, I’m not sure about the wheel bore though so maybe I’m off.

I wouldn't buy wheels directly from them again, except through Ebay. Ordered some wheels and they only sent me 4 wheel locks with no lug nuts. And their customer service is terrible. Look up their reviews and you'll see they have a history of sending wrong stuff

Again, rings are NOT necessary. Get rid of the rings, center the wheels slowly the lug nuts in a star pattern, and call it a day.

Having 2 lungs aren't necessary either but it's still nice to have and it makes life easier.

It's really not that hard to not use rings either. Like I previously said the wheels on my Lancer are the first I have ever run rings on, and only because they were free. If the OP wants to see if the rings are the issue he could easily take them off and still run the wheels without issue.

Look at post #8. He already said they sent him the wrong rings AND lugs. He needs conical lugs and, I assume, they sent ball lugs.

Sounds like you need extended wheel studs since those new wheels i'm assuming stick out farther than OEM right? Extended wheel studs my friend

Yes the wheels are wider than stock but as far as i can tell the thickness between the wheels back mounting surface and where the lug nuts seat is nearly the same as the stock wheels.

Just because a wheel has more offset does not mean it needs longer wheel studs. The offset has nothing to do with how far the lug studs stick through, unless you are using spacers to make them stick out more. Factory wheels on my Lancer are 18x7 with a 46 offset. Wheels on the car now are 18x8 with a 35 offset. They stick out considerably more than the factory wheels, almost a full inch, but the lug stud protrusion didn't change any.

Post #13 shows in a photo they are conical, and the rings will not cause the issue he is having…just saying.

Looks like your lug nuts are the problem. According to the image above looks like the lug Is to big and not seating all the way .If the lug is stopping where all that scraping is at the lug, I can see how it may only be catching about three treads or turns should i say.the lugs should be able to seat all the way in and only use the base to aligned the wheel properly .(those do look oem are you sure they are tuner style, they should look a lot skinnier?).
