I have a 2010 g37xs and the guy I bought it off of said they opted for the 6 speed model instead of the 7 speed. I cant find anywhere saying that they offered a 6 speed automatic so I was wondering if I have a 7th gear that has been disabled.

 

No that's not a thing. 6 Speed manual or 7 speed auto. If you have no 7th gear then something is broken.

 

Is there anything I can do to confirm that I have a 7 speed? it runs fine with just the 6 but I have felt that its missing a gear sometimes. Even when in manual mode it wont even try to shift into a 7th gear so that's why I'm under the impression that its been changed to be this way

 

I've never heard of that being a thing.... I don't have a 7AT so not sure if it can be manually put into 7th, its possible it only works in auto. Someone else will have to chime in in that.

 

The G37 Coupe was released as a 2008 model, and had a 5AT... the same AT that was in the G35.

The G37 Sedan was released as a 2009 model, and had the new 7AT. Also in 2009, the G37 Coupe was upgraded to the 7AT.

There never was a 6AT.
