Xenon Headlight Out - Questions

After 12+ years one of my Xenon headlights burned out. I noticed that both the low and high beams are out....is this normal when then burn out for both of them to go, or does that possibly point to a ballast issue?

If I do just need to replace the bulbs, which brand is the best/most reliable for a stock look? Is there any bulb that would be a good upgrade to the lighting coverage? I've been pretty happy with the stock bulbs and don't want to change the color.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Its Bi-Xenon. the hi and lo are the same bulb with a mechanical cutoff. So yeah, if one goes they both go. I think I put Morimoto XB bulbs in my car, same color as the original bulbs.

Phillips OEM is good. Morimoto XB is great, more light output than oem, same colour. Osram CBI and the Nightbreakers are also fantastic if you want whiter colour. Other brands are hit and miss. Once my bulbs went, I went through 3 sets that all failed within 3 days of intall. Osrams have been in for 5 years so far.

Besides the Osrams, have you tried any LEDs for the headlights?

Nope, only tried xenon d2s bulbs by Phillips, Osram, diode dynamics, and Morimoto. Morimoto was also not bad, but osrams give more light output.

Do you have the link for your Osrams? While doing this, I plan on replacing the turn signals with LED/updated lights as well if you have any recommendations

I ordered mine from theretrofitsource like 4 years ago. They should still have them. The CBI/cold blue intense is what I have, but if you want even more light penetration in the dark, nightbreakers are awesome too.

And for my turns I'm just using diode dynamics right now. Had Morimoto before, also good. Going to need resistors for the turns. I like DD lights because they're a good colour match to the osrams (the osrams look blueish in this photo, but that's just because of how the lens distorts the light, they're identical in person)

Well I appreciate your help and just placed my order for new headlight bulbs from Morimoto (my passenger side went out about a week ago). Good looking out!

I'm kind of late to this thread and you probably already replaced your HID bulbs, but I just want to let you know that you can always get an LED conversion kit from Lasfit

Reasons to go LED instead of HID:
- Maximum light is outputted instantly upon switching on your lights, while HID bulbs take a good minute to warm up
- Much brighter than the HID variant, but not so bright that you blind other drivers
- The bulbs are waterproof
- The kit is 100% plug-n-play
- The kit replaces the ballast, meaning you can sell your ballast assemblies, igniter cables, and bulbs to get some money back
