Good for you. Sounds like a solid decision.

The Bluetooth dongle will make it vastly easier to data log wirelessly to your phone, but that's not a thing for you when doing an in-person dyno tune. Also, when "loading" new maps, you still need the USB cable from the bluetooth dongle to a laptop, so there's no added value for bluetooth in that scenario, and you won't be loading new maps anyway after an in-person dyno tune. As for *switching* maps, you do that with your cruise control switch on the steering wheel, you don't need the dongle.

Catch cans... meh. Someday when you've got $400 burning a hole in your pocket, but don't sweat it until you do, if at all. They do look pretty cool, though.

90 minute drive? I would have done that if I were that close. I mean, there's a lot of satisfaction that comes from making a remote tune happen, but a one-and-done afternoon at the tuner has a lot of appeal too.

Yea the 400 is definitely not burning a hole in my pocket right now lol. I might try to pick up one of the Bluetooth dongles used just to have the switching map capabilities on the phone and whatever data is able to shown on the app not sure if a/f ratio, oil temperature, or being able to clear a code for in the future if the cats throw a code.

I definitely can see how doing the remote tune has a certain feeling of accomplishment, but I think that may have intimidated me. I give you and anyone else that goes the remote tune route alot of credit.

Buy the dongle if you plan on keeping the car for a while. With Uprev you wont need it to switch map but the cable is important to check your parameters. This way you can get familiar with your parameters, this familiarity will help you and the tuner troubleshoot any issues.
If you're going with Ecutek then dongle or cable is reccomended. Although you might end up staying using the same map over time, I love being able to switch.

Catch cans can wait, and wont impact the tune.

Got some AWESOME NEWS YESTERDAY!!! So when I was scheduling the tune with RT I told them if you have a cancellation I can come earlier if you have an appointment open up. Got the call yesterday they had a cancellation so I moved my appointment up to the 19th. I am going to try and find a bluetooth dongle used somewhere. If that turns up unsuccessful I'm just going to bite the bullet and get a new one.

You'll be paying for the license ($350 give or take) and the in-person dyno tune services ($400 give or take). However, for sure a place like RT would have their own dongle. Probably entire boxes of them. For that matter, you could probably buy one from them either new or used.

Confirm this with your contact at RT, but the point being you're under no rush to buy a dongle, now or never.

When I was scheduling the appointment I checked with the guy Andrew who was who I dealt with. He had said they always have them in stock if I choose to buy one I could just let them know day of the tune.

Alright so it is done. Wish i would have had the car dynoed before any of the parts, but after a few little modifications and a tune to be at 331 whp is definitely solid. Car shifts way better and feels nice. Love it now what next lol. Im going to start a build thread i think finally.

Proof right there in your hands, regardless of the corroborating butt dyno. Certainly worth a 90 minute road trip, IMO.

It was well worth it. Butt dyno no more lol. I had to pick up a t shirt while I was there so I can feel cool while I am driving my recently tuned Q40

What performance mods do you have? Which dyno is this?

This is close to what I got so I'm wondering.
