2010 Sedan resto-mod

I've had this car for a couple years and finally have the finances and free time to really bring it back to its former glory and then some. Goal being a reliable daily with a little spice to it. Currently sitting at 140k on the odometer, and just holding my breath for the oil gaskets. In any case... Heres the progress

2010 Journey Sedan

Mods so far:
350z 18" wheels with OEM Z tire sizes
Swift Springs
Z1 Y-Pipe
5% tint

Fresh from the skeeze-bag dealership. Only 90k on the clock then.

Some dimwit painted the fog light grills silver. I'm assuming it was at the same time that the front bumper was resprayed by a total rookie because the paint started to peel off after about a year of winter in Michigan.

First mod! Sport bumper from Z1 Motorsports.

Clearly that had to go. Sport bumper is MUCH better. It looked ok ish outside now but the inside was seriously lacking. Rather than buy a new car, I figured I'll just invest in this one. Bought a "tesla style" screen from Phoenix Android Radios and it was a ****-tastrophe. Tons of dead pixels in the screen, apps randomly crashed, and in the end I returned it. But damn it looked OEM. This was the generation before the PX6 ones came out. Im giving it another go but from Rhino radios and with the PX6 Android 9 setup. Fingers crossed it doesn't blow.

Next up... Modernize the infotainment and cover up all the scratched up trim with vinyl overlay.

Now having lived through 2 winters in the midwest, I wanted summer wheels. Mostly for looks but also for ease of transfer with the snow tires. I found a cheap set of Z wheels on facebook marketplace with some supposedly good tires. 4 new tires later... here we are!

In the process I also lowered it with some swift springs. I had intended on putting some new struts and caps etc but there's apparently a nationwide back order on struts. So sometime in September when they show up I'll freshen up all the rest of the suspension.

New OEM steering wheel!

The restoration portion continues... The steering wheel had seen better days after 10 years of use. Found a brand new oem one on eBay for a decent deal and what a difference. Paired with a new OEM shift **** its like driving a new car. I also pulled off some of the 3m vinyl because it started to peel back. Redoing it currently.

So far thats all I got. Have a new android radio on order, and some struts. Anyone know of any high mileage issues I should be worried about let me know!

UPDATE 9/8/2020

Got the new PX6 android radio in and low and behold many issues. I kind of expected as much. Airbag light is on and flashing, and the reverse cam doesnt work. I believe ive found a work around for it. Also replaced the old shift boot with a new leather one on eBay.

Screen looks good, sounds good, and is very responsive. Just have to sort out the airbag light.

New leather shift boot.

Rusty Front Subframe X-brace thing. Especially in the salty parts of this country. I've only got 78k on my 2012 xS, but the rust is starting to really take hold. I'll have to pull and paint it at some point in the next 5 years..

Car looks great! I’ve had the PX3 for a little over a year now and despite correcting a number of issues (back up cam, sound quality etc) I’ve actually come to live with it and it’s pretty great. For playing Spotify, google maps & the occasional movie with my SO in the car - it’s absolutely fantastic.

Sound quality is certainly worse than stock Bose as the DAC is **** but with a few EQ adjustments it’s not awful.

Sticking it out, best $500 upgrade I’ve made to my car, hands down. Especially coming off of a non-Nav 2011.

I’m looking forward to upgrading to the PX6 soon - but sport bumper paint & sport lip come first!

Thanks @deafington ! Im glad to hear someone has had a good experience overall. Really just want the OEM look and for it to do exactly as you described. Fingers crossed the PX6 Android 9 one has better audio quality. When my old PX3 was in there the audio quality didnt really bother me but im also almost deaf from working in a shop for 10 years and then flying turboprops for another 10 lol.
