Engine Ticking Noise at Idle
Engine Ticking Noise at Idle
Hi Everyone,
I've done a search on the forum and based on "ticking noise at idle" or "knocking at idle" and the results came up with videos that seem to have the same issue. However, I am having trouble recognizing if it is the same sound.
The other forum references the oil needs to be changed to ester oil, I currently use Mobil 1. Thank you for the help!

Check the fuel damper. If you have a mechanic's stethescope, or you can use a long handled tool like a screwdriver or socket extension, touch one end to the damper and the other to your ear. If the knocking/ticking is amplified through that, the damper is going. I've heard those bad enough that sounded like rod knock, but some have sounded like a tick. Otherwise, my motor sounds exactly the same as yours, as do several other VQ's I've heard before (it doesn't' sound that loud in your video)
