G37 cranking and failing to start (giving it some gas helps it start)

My '12 sedan has been having intermittent issues where it fails to start (cranks, starts, RPM drops and then engine shuts off).

It is not a common occurrence and has only occurred a handful of times so far. But still a concern!

Every time it does this, I give it some gas and then it fires up and I have no further issues. What could be the issue though? Battery is new. Thanks in advance.

This is a symptom of a dirty throttle body. Have they ever been cleaned?
If not:

Then make sure to do the following steps to prevent a high or unstable idle:

Your throttle bodies likely need cleaning. I had this intermittent issue on my '11. I brought it in (was still under warranty) and they actually replaced the throttle bodies. Issue never resurfaced. If your car isn't under warranty, start with the cleaning and see if it helps. The how-to should be available on this site, check YouTube as well.

Edit - SonicVQ beat me to it as I was typing, and also included the videos. Thanks man!
