Diff Bushing Blew
Diff Bushing Blew
Went to my friends shop for an oil change and saw the beautiful sign of oil on the diff case and exhaust. Heard this is a massive pain in the *** and super expensive to fix.Should I even attempt to fix it? would a diff brace be able to help a bit?
Doesn't hurt to try the epoxy fill first. Mine would thump loudly with gear changes so I had the bushing replaced along.with installing the Bell brace. I haven't pushed it yet but normally.any aggressive acceleration resulted in severe wheel hop.
Mine blew, i put the diff brace in and noticed a HUGE difference. Then I did the epoxy fix and got even better. Wheel hop gone, as well as the huge THUNK i would have when it changed gears at WOT. I'm not going to change the bushing... not worth it at this point imo.
Accept the situation, and appreciate the opportunity for upgrade with aftermarket diff bushings. In the meantime, try the epoky fix, then start planning and saving for the repair.
I certainly wouldn't recommend the diff brace with sloppy mounts.

^ I dunno about that. The diff brace made a huge difference even with the blown bushing - and totally could be used as a temporary fix while you wait to get the bushing fixed in the future. Plus its a 10 minute install.
Maybe when I get my lift installed I'll attempt replacing the bushing, but for now epoxy fix + diff brace seems to be holding up well.

My rear diff bushing went out a while back so I went ahead and did a 3.69 VLSD swap along with white line bushings. It was a pretty straight forward install took me about 3 hours for both. I used a sawzall to cut out the bushing an a big C clamp and piece of flat bar steel to press the new bushing in. The car definitely feels more planted especially on hard take off and very little vibration during normal driving. Still thinking about getting the diff brace as well.
