Front Bumper Swap Questions (2012 G37x)
Front Bumper Swap Questions (2012 G37x)
So last night I drove into a small couch. There was a couch/love seat in the center of my lane that probably fell off some ****heads truck and, due to bad weather and an out streetlight, I didn't have time to stop/avoid it so I had to plow right through it. Pretty effortlessly actually.
From the outside, there isn't serious damage to my bumper other than pretty deep scratches, cracked/missing paint, a small crack to the underside of the bumper, an out fog light, and a missing fog light bezel that must have popped off on impact. I feel extremely lucky that nothing else was damaged and that I drove away with no more obvious issues, but I plan to take the bumper off or use a lift to see if anything else was damaged in the process. (If anyone knows what I should look for I would appreciate your insight.)
I planned to swap my current 2012 non-sport bumper with the sport style bumper anyway, and since I might need a whole new bumper cover and possibly more parts, I figured now's the time to make the swap.
I looked through the forums and determined what parts I think I need:
- Front sport bumper
- 3 lower grill pieces and a tow hook cap
- 2 fog light bezels
- Possibly at least the drivers side fog light/wire assembly
Can anyone confirm that these are all the parts I would need to put on a sport bumper? Are the fog lights themselves going to fit or do they need to be replaced as well?
Also, has anyone had any experience with infinitipartsdealer.com? Is it a legit site with quality parts? All the parts I listed above without the lower center grill piece and fog lights will run me $595 shipped, is this a decent price? I've found the lower center grill piece for around $120, so call it $620 for just the parts. I plan to pay a local shop to paint the cover and save some money by installing it myself.
Thanks in advance for any input, and beware of stray living room furniture out on the road boys and girls. This could have been a very messy outcome had it been a sectional.
