THE CAR BEFORE BEING REBUILT
Hey, everyone i was looking for a new G37 recently because my 08' G37 sport coupe has a engine problem i decided to sell it to CarMax, However i was on the search for a new car i saw this one g37 in particular which really caught my eye great mileage 13' model, Black exterior everything i ever wanted in a g37. Well while i was checking the CARFAX it shows that the damage was done in the front where the engine is i really want this car but i just wanna know will this really last me a long time i want this car to drive and take me place without having to drop my car off at a mechanic shop every month. I hope someone with a salvage g37 can tell me if this is worth it or not and will last me without any problems since g37 are prone to ****ing up a lot?

In general, the G37 is a solid car by all measures. If you're looking for a car that's going to be 100% problem free I'd be hesitant to pick up a salvaged car. A rough trade (according to Edmunds) shows a TMV for a rough trade in at $9,535. This is priced about $700 under that. If you're dead set on getting it, I'd want to see an inventory of all that was replaced and who did the repairs. Assumption being, they would be familiar with the car in the event you have to take it in for something. I'd want to see how close they were to me. I'd also take it for a PPI as well.

 

+1 on this. Also it looks like they cut some corners on the trim pieces at least...fog lights look like they're missing some trim probably more missing if you look closer

 

If I'm reading that carfax report right, looks like car got totaled twice! I'd stay away.

 

My 6MT is a rebuilt salvage, but the damage wasn't nearly as bad as the one you posted. I borrowed the car and had it properly inspected and after that is when I pulled the trigger. I did see a couple things they cheaped out on but nothing major.

That being said, I only did it because it was a rare sport 6mt, if it was a non-6mt I wouldn't have even bothered. These cars are getting cheaper you could easily find a non-rebuilt with a little more miles but a good service record for near the same price range.

 

I rebuilt my wife's '11 XS sedan. I'd only pay 60-70% of clean for a car that was properly rebuilt. Without knowing who did that one it's hard to say if it was. The dash has been replaced and so of have the seatbelts. It's had some suspension and upper apron work. If you do know that kind of work, take it to someone who does.

 

As you did the rebuild yourself, you know that there were no corners cut and you probably took your time to ensure that the car was 100% before handing the keys to your wife.

As Hashim pointed out - they didn't even get all the chrome trim pieces put on before trying to sell it so that's a bit concerning and a red flag in my book.

 

The good news is it was a "non smoker" .
