How bad is the wheel hop in your 6MT sedan?

How bad is the wheel hop in your 6MT sedan?
I don't know if it is the Tein suspension, Hotchkiss sways, Vodoo Camber arms or wide sticky tires that are causing the problem, but WOW do I get wheel hop if I try to lay stripes on the road. Not that I really try to do this that often, but I thought with all the extra power it should be easy in my car. Anyone else notice this issue on their 6MT sedan or even when it was stock?
Nope, not here. If I turn off TC and let loose, my rears will spin smooth like bacon fat on hot teflon.
I used to experience FWD wheel hop in my old Maxima, and it drove me nuts. The problem completely disappeared when swapping in solid poly engine mounts, and transformed the launch on that car. Your G being RWD... the goto suspects are in your rear suspension. But that's nuts, given your configuration.

You know what? You're probably looking for some future upgrade again, so maybe you can nurse this nagging problem into a self-gifted xmas present of high-end coilovers.

Hmmm... now you guys have me scratching my head. I run 275/19's in back with about -1.5 degree camber.
Rochester, I am really surprised that you did not notice the same issue when you had the same dampers in back. You have Eibach sway bars, right? Do you have camber arms in back?
The strange thing is that if I am rolling and spin the tires it seems to slide controllably, but if I am stopped and stand on it I get wheel hop for days.

Yep. Eibach sways, 275/19 Contis on 19x10" Vossens, SPC Rear camber arms, and a -2° camber on the rears. The Teins are gone, and the original Tokico shocks are back, but I'm still using the Tein springs and adjustable height collars. In other words, it's very much like your car. But if I break traction from a standing start, I don't hop, it just spins.
I did that just an hour ago, thinking of this thread. Waiting at an off-ramp, I turned TC off and burned into the turn with a little oversteer.

Well, wtf? It must be the stickier tires trying too hard not to give up any grip. It's strange I even noticed as I usually do not do much hooliganism like laying down black stripes all over town.
I don't believe the stickier tires are causing wheel hop.

If the root cause of wheel hop was too much power or too sticky of tires, you would never see burnouts in drag racers. I would know...my family drag races for fun. 800-1000hp with slicks gooped up with DHT. You can hear the tires running down the track if it's a quite car...like the level of stick is unreal. And yet they have no wheel hop. I still believe it is your suspension (no judgement mine is stock).

My car does this like a POS. I don't ever try laying stripes down anymore. I've tried soft power, medium power, full power. Nothing works, they'll go for like a second then boom just start hopping. It is one reason I secretly hate the car lol

Yea I'm surprised I haven't cracked my rear windshield yet. They is no way to avoid it on my car when I try to burnout

What the heck? Well 4DRZ, seems you're not alone.
Whatever the cause, it must be a thin tolerance between spin and hop for the G Sedan. All I can say is thank God it ain't me, because that would get under my skin in a big way.

Well, it's a mystery then. Not a huge deal as the only time I have ever really done this is in the fall when I need to spin off the cupped inner sections of my front tires (rotated to the rear) from too much negative camber up front. I do this right before I put the snow tires on. Fortunately, I am fixing the front negative camber soon with new front upper control arms.
It seems strange to me that when I am not really trying to break the rear end loose I inadvertently do and the TCS light pops on, but when I am purposely trying to spin the rear tires I get all kinds of wheel hop.
