Is there any differences in reliability between the 3.5 in the 2006 - 2008 sedan and the 3.7 used in later years? I understand the 3.7 is more powerful but really only concerned about reliability. Cheers.

Heard about that. Im considering buying a 08 g35s sedan though. Is that year affected?

If thats seriously the only major issue with all of the 4th gen G's id be genuinely impressed. Seems every other car in this class is plagued by some kind of catastrophic time bomb.

It's not something that's destined to fail, and repair costs vary from about $1500 on up. Hard to say what % fail, it seems unlikely overall, but as the older Gs get more miles on them more gaskets will fail. My 09 has almost 100k w/ strong oil pressure, I'll probably DIY the repair if it ever rears it's ugly head, but hopefully the dice won't come up snake eyes



But yeah, if you want to avoid the possibility altogether the 2012+ is the plan.

Im just praying that it won't ever happen to mine but who knows. How are you reading oil pressure? through OBDII? or did you wire up an actual guage?

I use the Harbor Freight setup in this DIY, I had an oil pressure gauge w/ a sandwich adapter but the gauge didn't hold up well

it did happen to me, right at 100k. but once its repaired im thinking itll be bulletproof

Very much hoping it doesn't happen to me. I'm going to give my car to my cousin in a year or two, so hoping it doesn't down the line either as he definitely won't have the money or skill to fix it.
