I bought an 08 G35x and loved it. I only traded it for a 2013 G37 Sedan. The RWD and the VQ engines are the strong points. In both you get a better made car from Nissan with some nice options. If you see how they get packaged, they turns the g35 into a very nice ride for the cost.

I owned 2000 Maxima before. Many car reviewers said that Altima was as good as Maxima and cheaper. When I tested Altima and Murano 6 years ago, I could feel the difference in 30 seconds because Maxima got much better steering. Actually I didn't know Maxima got the similar steering rack as Infiniti until I own 2007 G35S and 2010 M35X. Even though I own 2017 GSF now (including G35S/M35X and driving them interchangeably) , I still think the steering feel in G35S and M35X is quite good already. I guess previous Infiniti steering rack is already very good. Therefore they try to invent something new like steering by wire.

Wifey has a 2014 Altima 3.5SL, which is to say, about as good as I would expect an Altima to be. I hate it. It has the CVT (at least the V6 has a steel belt instead of a rubber belt, but still) which has had issues since 12k miles or so, almost 40k on it now. Great engine, very comfortable inside, styling is ok, but avoid the Nissan CVT like the plague. Main reason I like the Infiniti side of the world...same engines, real transmissions, real wheel drive.
