Exhaust Diameter?

I've looked around the forum and there are many different numbers thrown around, with the most common being 2.25". I wanted to know the diameter right at the axleback. I was looking to have my mufflers cut out and swapped with the 14851 magnaflow which has an inlet of 2.25". Any recommendations? Anyone done something like this before? Would this work just fine or is the diameter not accurate? G37xs sedan btw. Thanks ahead of time!

You're looking for stock pipe diameter, right? It's in the forum I linked.

There was mention of stock pipe right before mufflers on sedan being 2.25" on some posts, and some stating 1.9" or 1.75", someone even said 1.5" (?????). It's so all over the place. Hence why I asked, because there wasn't a conclusive answer.

So I shouldn't order the 14851? I was looking at those specifically because of 2.25" diameter, and a lot of people have bolted it onto other cars (Audi A4, S4, Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord, etc.) hence why I asked.

This is your opportunity to buy larger pipes.

I didn't want to do axleback because in Canada the price is unreasonable (well over $1k). I could get these welded on for ~500 hence why I was considering it, but only if it works of course.

I believe stock sedans are 2.25" whereas the coupe is 2.5". You can measure for yourself though ;-)

The size varies from Y- pipe to Mid pipe, etc. For the most part, excluding flanges, inlets, outlets, etc, the pipe is around 1.8-1.9. Regardless, it's a toothpick and the stock mufflers are very restrictive. The mufflers you're interested in will weld right in.
