Should the trunk "self open"?

Would new trunk shocks take away some of the pulling action required to open up the trunk? Curious to any one who has replaced theirs or knows from buying new.

I was watching a Doug D vid on the Chevy SS and it's boot hinges looked somewhat similar to the Gs and wondered if replacements would help ours. Not that its a big deal; only time I care is when its crap out (like now) and its messy.

No. New struts won't make it function like a power opening trunk, which should have been standard in this car.

You could see about ones that would be much more stiff, then perhaps the would lift a bit, doubtful though.

I've wondered this myself. 99% of the time I wish it would open all the way. The 1% is when I accidentally hit the button in my pocket and don't notice until the next day when I see the alert on the dash and I'm glad it didn't open all the way!
