I just installed mine a few days ago and I've liked it so far. It costs less than the plastic piece so that's automatically a plus. Better price and a more sturdy material. It doesn't flex like the plastic would but I've bottomed out a couple times since I put it on. Hasn't bent or cracked, just skid marks so it's doing its job. The only downside for me is that when I DO bottom out, the noise it makes sends chills up your spine.

Hmm. I wonder if I'm ever "bottoming out" with the plastic pan, but just don't know it?

You'd hear it. I bottom out the plastic pan everytime I leave a certian parking garage because of the angle. Just a few seconds of a grinding sound. It would probably sound pretty terrible with a metal pan.

Reviving this to ask: What's the thread spacing on these 10mm bolts?
I sheared the middle rear one off digging around for a nut that fell into the rear shield. That section is now held with a bungie, but it can catch air and vibrate the hell out of the car at freeway speeds.
So Im drilling the broken rusted bit out on Friday and replacing it.

Do you mean thread pitch? To me, spacing is how far apart the bolts are.

Yes. So i can buy a bolt that screws in. (Assuming removal of the broken one goes well).

They're all basic M6 bolts. Probably M6-20mm.

Just about every little bolt on every Japanese car is M6.

Thanks for that valuable generalization! Off to the autostore for penetrating spray.

You could remove a good one and take it to your nearest Lowes/Home Depot or equivalent. Their hardware sections have templates you can use to determine exactly you have.

^ yes, that looks like it. You could also just take one of the clips & bolts off of your car and go to most any auto parts store. They should have one that will work.
