Whining Steering & CPO Warranty Question

Hi everyone. I have a 2012 Infiniti G37x that I purchased back in October of 2015. As of late, when I am going around 15-30 MPH, when I take a left turn, there is a weird humming/whining noise coming from my steering column. I tried looking online and found a few things about this. I checked my steering fluid and it is at the max level. Would this be covered under my CPO warranty? What about my extended elite warranty? I am asking because my local dealership seems to beat around the bush when I ask about these questions. I never get a straight answer and I feel like I am being screwed around with.

P.S. I read through what is covered in the CPO booklet and do not see steering being covered or not covered; it don't see any mention of it.

This sounds more like wheel bearing rather than a steering component. A wheel bearing that is failing will start to make grinding/humming/vibrations when cornering. Lift the front end and spin each wheel to see if you hear grinding or a lack of smooth rotation. Also, check for play in each front wheel by lifting up on it with a pole or 2x4 wedged between the ground and the tires.

Mine did the exact same thing. Power steering whine at low speeds when turning left only. I found a TSB related to the issue that recommended replacing the power steering reservoir. Swapped it out myself in 5 min. Part was around $200. Fixed it immediately. Not sure about warranty coverage....

I have CPO and the dealership did not charge a fee to replace an power steer reservoir. Be sure to confirm your CPO status and ask them if it covers just so that you don't get your wallet screwed over.

Off topic, but if they do that stupid "complementary" wash they do, just refuse that offer after your repair. Left bunch of ugly swirls and scratches, which I later had to remove and polish.

$200 for a reservoir!@?# That's insane. I had the tsb done too, but under warranty. It's just a plastic container.. No way is it worth $200.
