Quick question, I'm trying to get the stillen license bracket for long drives to and from LA, normally I'm rockin no front plate.

Everyone says install is super easy 5 min, but how do you remove the tow hook eye cap cover to screw it in? For the g37 sport bumper there is a black mesh piece on the grill that blocks the entrance of the thread?

I haven't bought the kit yet..

 

i think you can just pop it out with a screw driver. at least on my old g35 you could. not sure about the 37, never tried.

 

Just wedge a Phillips in and apply some pressure on the passenger side of the insert and it will pop out. Driver's side is held on by a cheap plastic "string"

 

just to be clear im talking about this:
in the picture the tow eye hook cap is already removed


so i just wedge a screwdriver in and it should pop out easy?

 

Yup, takes a little bit of a touch. Dont crank but almost "bounce" the screw driver at an angle and work it out.

I just went out popped mine in and took it out in less than 2 minutes. Screen shots attached for reference.

*My insertion of the screwdriver is obviously not in the patch that pops out but you get the idea. Stick it in the center hole of the tow patch and kinda bounce it with moderate pressure and try different angles but it will give

I personally place high value on aesthetic balance, and therefore can't stand the look of an off-centered license plate.

So seeing as you claim you don't use a front plate most of the time, maybe consider zip-tying it into the lower grille? That's what I've done for years now with no problem.

-For photoshoots and car meets/shows I can have no front plate, as well as having no holes drilled in my front bumper/no bumper plugs
-The 95% of the time that I'm legally obligated to have a license place, it is centered on my G
-Installation/removal takes less than 2 minutes (and only requires zip ties, a pair of tweezers, and a pair of scissors)
-Super cheap

I know this idea won't suit everyone, but It works for me. So I figured I'd throw the idea out there as an option, just in case you don't want to spend $80-$90 on an off-centered license plate bracket

Thanks for sharing that Hex. I've been interested in the sto-n'-sho for a while, but hadn't seen it on a G till just now,
I'd be interested to know where on the front lip/bumper he drilled that into, and if it'd still work on a lowered G

 

Yeah I was considering getting one as well, but I cant see it working on a lowered car. There isnt a great spot to mount it, and seems like it would scrape when getting into a driveway. I just thought its a great idea, maybe not for our cars though
