Console dead
Console dead
2012 G37, first problem I've had with it, and it's a weird one.
Yesterday when I started the car in the morning, I had no console. The screen just showed the Infiniti logo, the backup cam didn't work, the radio didn't work, and none of the climate control lights were lit. But the car ran fine (and the analog clock worked). After a few minutes, the radio came on, but I couldn't change stations. And the climate control lights came on, but the screen only showed the climate control settings. Then when I got to work (about 20 minutes later), the backup cam was working, but not the screen.
At the end of the day when I started up to drove home, everything was working fine. Then this morning, all the console functions were dead again, and didn't come back at all on the drive to work.
I haven't checked the fuses yet, or tried to disconnect the battery and reset everything, but it doesn't seem likely that either of these would cause an intermittent problem. We've had a lot of rain lately, and the car has been parked outside, so I suspect moisture somewhere, but I don’t know where to begin looking.
Any suggestions?

Mine had the same symptoms. In my case, it was the problem from the HDD inside the head unit.
I replaced the HDD and everything is fine now.
There is a thread on this forum about the process of upgrading/replacing the HDD.

Well, I seem to have dodged a decent sized bullet. It occurred to me I should take the music flash drive out of the USB port to see what would happen. What happened was--instant fix. After a day of so of full function, I put another flash drive in, and everything was fine. Then I put the original back in, still fine. So apparently the system hung for some reason while trying to access the drive. (I'm pretty sure I don't have any songs titled Divide By Zero...) So I'm hoping it's just some sort of random access error on the drive.
If it happens again I'll probably replace the flash drive. But for now, I'm a much happier camper. Thanks for responding.
