Crack in Arm Rest

I've been told buy two companies that the crack in my arm rest on the drivers side door panel cannot be repaired because it is not vinyl or leather. It's a man made product. Don't want to replace that whole panel, to expensive, so what do I do. I have not checked a junk yard yet and if they have one I'm sure it will be expensive too. Has anyone ever had this problem and if they did how did you handle it?
Thanks

See Redline Goods for options. And you may or may not want to take that new cover to a leather shop for a professional fitment. Armrest lid comes right off.

Rochester, thanks for your reply. The arm rest I was talking about is on the drivers side door where you rest your left arm not the center console. Sorry I didn't make that clear enough. Anyway, do you know if any part of that arm rest comes apart? There is a seam there, at least it looks like a seam. I'll get in touch with Redline Goods and see what they say.
Thanks again.

Oh. Yeah, I missed that completely. Sorry. In that case, Redline isn't any help, and neither am I.

Just off the top of my head... if you take the door panel apart and bring this project to a leather shop, you could probably get some nice custom work. However, you'd want to do both sides. And custom = $$$, so there's that to consider. As for how to disassemble things, I'm sure it's in the FSM somewhere. The FSM has everything.

INT.pdf, Section 11 "Door Finisher". Just looking at it, though, I still can't tell if that piece separates from the rest of the panel. Hmm. Then there's this thread:

I'm not personally fond of the vinyl in the door armrests, either. It feels cheap.
