Takes time and patience if you've never done it before in your life...for a professional who does it day in and day out it would take probably an hr tops.

Removal of the grille and popping the Mt. Fuji out takes all of 10 minutes.

Folks don't want to see it from the shop's perspective sometimes.

These types of little projects are typically low margin and are not always a good proposition for shops unless they're specialized enough to see a high volume. Which is then reflected in the quote. If you're trying to back out the math to figure out the materials and manhours, it won't add up because the price was intentionally inflated.

It's inconvenient but understandable.

FWIW, I never tried vinyl wrapping anything ever, until I did my window trim, and I'd give myself a 8/10...and its lasted for over 2 years without peeling.
