Long story short, I stumbled onto a unicorn and couldn't help myself. Picked up a 2012 G37S 6MT, moonlight white, graphite interior, flawless with 16,083 miles (when I drove it home) last week. It showed up on PDX craigslist and was actually online for close to a month. I've considered G's for a long time but only ever saw manual transmissions on the coupes and I'm a sedan guy. I honestly didn't know they existed. A buddy who was looking for an X saw it and forwarded the link to me. I wasn't in the market at the time but it lit a spark that wouldn't die. I began feverishly doing research on anything 'G'. Mostly on this site. Needless to say it's now in my driveway. I've had a 2004 maxima SE 6MT since '08. Sorta dumbed into that one too. Been a fan of the VQ/VR ever since.
Read all the comments on the clutch feel and no one is exaggerating. It's funky! I already ordered jsolo's clutch spring. I'm going to start there, may end up going with the whole assembly if I'm not satisfied. Figures for $25 it couldn't hurt to try.
I've driven it less than 100 miles, but loving it so far. Looking forward to learning more as I go.
Cool bonus, the previous owner included a stillen cat-back (still in the box) as well as a set of uninstalled eibach springs and new brake pads for the purchase price. I'll try and get a couple pics up soon.
Looks like a gem! Wish I didn't need AWD and had a wife that could drive manual. I still have my Prelude to satisfy my clutch needs for now. Welcome to the forum! I'm fairly new but there is great info and people here.
Congrats. I bet you and John (Rochester) will get along well since you both come from similar vehicle backgrounds, I believe he had a manual Maxima, and now have a MW 6mt.

Yep. Good memory.
The OP's 6.0 Gen 6MT was slightly heavier than my old '03... but he had an independent rear suspension that my 5.5 Gen lacked. Then again, the 2004 had that big buck tooth, so there was that.
Welcome to the forum, NW_6MT. Lots of great mods available for your car. You're going to love it.
Congrats on the car man! What a beauty! Have a 6mt myself and absolutely love it. I also have a Stillen exhaust from the previous owner. Not the loudest exhaust but does sound pretty good.
I love that max. It's definitely a look that grows on you (or doesn't...). The fat-bottom girl generation I call it. Has more options than the new G actually. Kind of surprised me. Heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors, folding back seat, etc. everything but Nav basically. Only mod I did was tinted windows and nwp's intake manifold spacers and vais block off plate when I changed spark plugs.
It just rolled over 180k. 110k of them are mine. Changed a passenger side cv axle, brakes all around once, struts, driver side front wheel bearing (after my ex hit something on the highway it developed a howl), and one window motor. Other than that just fluids and the spark plugs at 145k (which is a giant PITA). Keeping it around for now. Talked my wife into selling her upside down 2012 mustang GT a few months ago before we got married as I had a company car and she could drive the max and get her money situation squared away. Job was killing me and the new gig didn't come with a car. Cue the G37...
I'm planning to put the stillen on. Not looking for a lot of volume. It's going to be a driver. From YouTube they sound pretty good. It's literally silent now, so it'll be an improvement anyway.
Have lots of ideas of things to do. Not sure how far down the rabbit hole I'll go. Ordered some weather tech mats because the weather is crap right now. Pretty conservative start I realize. Must be turning into my dad. Thinking too practical.
Beautiful find Man! Jealous of that brand newish 6mt g37s specimen. Bought my '09 with 110,000.
Do yourself a favor and read through all of Rochester's build thread. This member goes above and beyond in his research before doing any modifications.
With only 16,000 miles you should go ahead get yourself a premium membership. I use this forum 90% of the time if I have a question about my car and 99% of the time its already been covered and I'm searching and reading up on it. That is unless you only plan on keeping it for a year or two then I call first dibs!
Welcome Bro!
Only mod I did was tinted windows and nwp's intake manifold spacers and vais block off plate when I changed spark plugs.
Phenolic Intake Spacers and BOP... FTW!
Loved my BOP. Looked even better polished, with titanium bolts.
Hey OP, take your time with mods. That car you found is so low mileage, you can plan on owning it for many years. One approach for long-term ownership: make plans and budget for one significant mod each year.
And if you're looking for specific advice... swap out the clutch pedal ASAP for the RJM unit, and (hopefully) sidestep a failure in the clutch slave cylinder. I recommend that because the CSC is *not* covered under the extended drivetrain warranty, and you have a 2012. Other than that, swaybars are the best bolt-on mod you can buy for this car.
