New owner 2011 Infiniti G37S Sedan

I have been deliberating what to buy when a G37s came my way. I almost got a IS350, but the people selling them were either crazy, delusional, or a bit dumb. I am sorry, but if you are selling your car, have the car looking good before you try to sell it, and try to make sure that things are working before you show the car. I was ready to make a deal, when one didn't have a functioning CD Changer. He got it fixed again after I had left.

I knew a couple of dealers that didn't advertise much, so I went on their website and there was my 2011 G37S. Now I hadn't seen too many S, but I knew that they had the larger brakes and calipers. I knew I wanted to get that if I got an Infiniti. Now I hear that I probably have the limited slip diff, which is so cool. How do I know for sure I have it? I do have the 225/50 and 245/45 tires with the sport wheels. I seem to have about every feature.

I almost have a small delay at full stops, I am getting used to it, thinking of pulling off the neg part of the battery to reset it. The salesman said it was normal. Forgot to mention, how do you pull the battery out if ou need to? It looks pretty cramped up there.

I am thinking of using Amsoil when my first Oil Change Comes through. Planning on their best and changing the oil filter after 5k or so and using the oil all year, it is a thought right now. I also plan on Amsoil for the rear Diff and possibly the transmission. I have used Amsoil before and their Euro Oil made my car feel better than any other.

I do with there was more room in the engine bay, how do we get to the spark plugs? I plan on getting the Iridium TTs when it come up on that time. I am planning to get some cold air intake for it, not sure if I want to spend $500 for a Stillen. Is there really that much of a difference on one of those vs just some K&N s in the factory boxes?

I might also get the exhaust replaced for better sound, and more hp.

What kind of power are people getting NA?

I just noticed one of the letters on the trunk fell off. I figure I will debadge it anyway.

Welcome, you have happened upon a fairly rare vehicle. Most of us spent some time trying to find ours.
Your plans sound good for starters. There are almost too many exhaust options out there so have fun selecting the right one.

I do believe all S have LSD.

I love these cars with a debadge. Looks just right in my opinion.

Post up a pic.

- Intakes don't really add power, just noise
- Spark plugs are under the engine cover and under the intakes. They are pretty easy to get too.
- I think all S models have an LSD, not sure though. The easiest way to test it is obvious, do a burnout!

I think it does have LSD, it feels really planted. I just found out that I have the DVD player, which I had no idea that I had. I wonder how difficult it would be to add some monitors in the headrests linked to the dvd player.

OP - if you got a true S sedan (not an xS all wheel drive) you indeed have all the great mechanical parts to go along with the cosmetic stuff. quicker steering, VLSD, big brakes, sport suspension bits, staggered wheels, etc. all good stuff! not sure what the MSRP difference was to step up to an S over the Journey back in the day, but my guess is that the package price was a great deal considering the individual cost of the parts upgrades on their own.

Read through the build sections part of this forum, and you'll find a lot of info.

What's the best thing to use to remove the glue. As I mentioned, the first I fell off, I want to debadge, but so far the old glue doesn't want to get off the trunk.

Isoprophyl alcohol, goo off, rubbing compound and a polisher (or just a microfiber). After you remove the emblem there will be an outline where it was and you'll need to compound that out of the trunk to fix that.

I tried some Iso, I might have to heat it up. That first one is tough.
I didn't know that these cars weren't direct injected. That is cool, no worries about carbon build up.
I am thinking I will use Amsoil Signature 5w30, but I was tempted to get redline 5w30 instead. I know that Amsoil is Type IV oil and Redline is Type V. I read that perhaps Type V causes gasket swell, which isn't necessarily bad esp for that rear timing seal.

I just got my car and my oil is cleaner than I think I have ever seen on a car. I plan on using pure one oil filters after reading about the Chinese Nissan Filters. She has a lot of miles and need to keep her sweet. Both Amsoil and Redline make Transmission Fluid for Her, I wonder if anyone has used it.

The cold air intake is cool, but i am not taking off the bumper. I wouldn't mind getting an all silicone one, but they don't seem to exist. The Silicone air intakes look cool though.

You should get a covercraft sun shade.

The one you have looks horrendous.

It comes in different colors, this owner decided to go with gold.

Welcome to the site, nice S you found, glad you picked a G over an IS x2 on the Covercraft, excellent sun shade but you almost need welding gloves to remove them in the hot summer heat, lol. Sounds like you're going to treat your car well, nice to hear what you've got planned.

Welcome to the club! A heat gun will help get off any badges or glue if you still need ideas for that.

Z1 makes silicone hoses for the front 1/4 of their intakes which should make installation a lot easier. That's the route I am planning to go. Taking off the bumper is not too bad, but there are two bolts behind the headlights that are tough to get to and take a lot of time to get in and out due to their location.

As mentioned earlier, there are a lot of good exhaust options. I have a stillen cat back exhaust with Z1 high flow cats and DC headers and the car sounds amazing, especially on the track.

If you want any other ideas I have a decent build thread going. I have taken most of the car apart already so I can probably save you some time.

That is a nice sunshade. There is a Injen Intake that looks nice. I would rather have the silicone intakes though. I wonder how restrictive the standard muffler is, I don't remember if there is a header that has a carb sticker. There is a performance intake manifold, but it isn't carb legal. I would like to get at least up to the power of a IRL.

I just went on a longish drive. I have 200 miles on the tank and still over a half tank. I am sure as soon as it goes below a 1/2 tank, it will empty fast. A couple of people in a mustang and E55 wanted to challenge me, I didn't even try. It is like being a big dog, you aren't worried of small dogs and not to interested in fighting the bigger dogs. I need to look at the owners manual. I want to find out what I don't know.

I have that Injen Short Ram, it's pretty good as far as not promoting heat-soak since it uses the factory Intake runners vs. metal tubes on other SRIs. The filters are high quality and the sound at open throttle is really good, and they do have some heat shielding. If you can up your budget a bit the Takeda cold air intake w/ the filter that centers behind the grill would be my choice.
