Yes, I wasn't discrediting your need for AWD as this is determined by one's driving conditions / environment. By the sounds of it you have your reasons for wanting the trade and all other posted comments are subjective.

Conversely, you're assuming you "NEED" AWD without ever having driven this car in winter. Comparing it to the poor traction control (based on my experience) of the Cadillac is about as fair as me stating my '04 G35 handles winter better then the '13 even though they had different tires. A good set of winter tires can make a huge difference, and I would recommend getting a set designed to work in poor conditions rather then being performance oriented.

You may find that this extra money you think you will get from selling the air system and wheels will quickly evaporate sourcing replacement parts and paying for labor.

Only you can decide what the proper decision is for you, but make sure you have looked at all angles before pulling the trigger... GL!

I am very disappointed with the LM-32... only really work on damp clear roads... and yes they failed in both attempts as stated above ^^^

Wait, you own a coupe? If so, disregard any sort of statement about the 6MT being well desired in the sense of doing a clean trade, car for car, if it is a coupe. That "rareness" only applies to sedans unfornately.

ohhhh i thought he owned a sedan...

personally I wouldn't go for that highly modded car though. Sell your car and buy a stock g35x or g37x. there are tons of them, shoudn't be hard to find a good one.

The issue is that a RWD coupe is hard to sell going into the winter

You know, I never followed the ebay link for that car until now. If you ditch that roof wing and front lip, keep the air at a normal person's ride height, even keep the wheels, they're pretty. Basically, de-rice the car a little bit. Someone already went through the expense of a 2010+ Sport front-end conversion.

Is that a Transformers emblem on the fender? LOL

I can't tell what it is, but it's not transformers. It looks like the same one as whatever is on the windsheild lol.

Personally I would just buy a 10yr old Civic with 150k on it for $2200 and call it a day. Save your RWD coupe for the other three seasons.

I should also mention that I've driven manual for years and now have a commute so an auto fits better for that as well

My plan for the car, if I do the deal, would be to de-rice it lol. That lip and side splitter lips are coming off, I'd probably do a trade plus cash for stock or slightly lowered struts and springs, and I prefer 18s or 19s over the 20s because of the amount of tire wall that is left. Really what I want to know is how is the 08 G35x? Is it a reliable car to own? Hows the 5 speed auto? I've owned 2 first gen g35 sedans, is it the same 5 speed auto?

2008 Coupe 6MT traded for a modified 2008 AWD Sedan, plus you get $3500 on top? Given your motivation to get an AWD car, sounds like a good deal to me. I wouldn't let the 5MT bother you too much over the 7AT. And the VQ35HR motor is a beast. Go for it.

Side splitters too, huh? Too funny. You know someone on G35Driver will buy them.

Yeah I think the splitters are just the ones that stick onto the bottom of the car. They'd be coming off within minutes of me getting the car home lol. I also spoke to the guy about me keeping my gray IPL wheels and he keeps the 20s and he's okay with that. I think the IPL's will look great on the black car if I do go with this car.

Honestly this thread should've started.. "I Just traded my 08 G37s 6mt that's fully loaded with 55k miles... and was offered a 2008 G35x sedan with 65k miles, a ton of work done and 3500 cash on top."

Moral of the story is that if the transmission difference isn't the deal breaker for you then this is a no-brainer

No, of course not.
  • A limited slip differential
  • Traction Control
  • Anti-lock brakes
  • Snow tires
  • Driving sober...

But the OP has said a number of times that he needs to climb a steep incline in the winter, and wants AWD. Can't really fault him for that.
