Building exhaust, looking for input
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions. So I am about to pull the trigger on a Tanabe Medalion axleback for my G, and I have already started looking into HFC/Test pipes and now I have added in a possible Y pipe. Here is what I am trying to do, I have a 2008 G35 sedan with the VQ35HR motor, I want to put together an exhaust that has minimal amounts of rasp and produces an "exotic" note. I am aware of the test pipe exhaust smell issue as well. Here are some of the questions/scenarios I have, they basically all pertain to rasp..
If I do non res test pipes but do a resonated Y pipe, will it reduce rasp or make no difference?
If I were to do a res test pipe with a non res Y pipe would it be any different than the one above?
If I were to do a HFC with a non res Y pipe would it minimize rasp?
(probably know the answer to this one) Would a non res test pipe and a non res Y pipe produce a lot of rasp?
I know I will probably never completely eliminate rasp, and that is fine. Thanks again for suggestions/input!
tl;dr: what combination of Y pipe and either HFC or test pipe paired with a tanabe medalion would give me the most "exotic" non raspy tone?

I'm currently running Motordyne ART Pipes with a Motordyne XYZ (resonated) paired with a stillen exhaust and I don't have any rasp issues. It's loud and sounds good imo. I originally started with a full Stillen CBE but it wasn't loud enough so I ended up swapping the Y Pipe with the XYZ and snagging some ART pipes.

I don't think you will ever accomplish an "exotic" sound with a Tanabe axle-back, no matter what else you do. Those mufflers are as close to OEM as you can get while still being aftermarket. Pretty tips, tough.
No, wait... if you go with ARK Resonated Cats, that would do it.
