How can my 2013 with 22,000 miles be so inaccurate compared to my 29 year old BMW?

on the Infiniti, I show anywhere between 0.8-1.9 MPG better on the computer compared to manually calculating it.

On my 87 BMW 325ic, I havent manually calculated it in a long time as I remember it always being pretty accurate, and what it says on its 29 year old computer is very close to my manual calculations. After filling up the BMW yesterday, I decided to do the manual calculation to just see how close or off it was. My MPG readout on the car computer was 14.9MPG, while my manual MPG calculation was 14.7MPG. That is extremely accurate.

How is 29 year old technology more accurate then 3 year old technology?

maybe both your manual calculation and car computer are wrong!
