07-09 G sedan V.S. 10+ G37 sedans extra 200lbs?!

Doing my daily casual research and spec comparisons that I am addicted to doing I have noticed that when they did the refresh in 2010 the G sedan (manual compared to manual) gained ~200lbs??? Even the new Q50S with an auto weighs less (albeit 25lbs but its a bigger car with an auto). I am sure they used better/thicker materials and more sound deadening material but holy cow 200lbs difference? Any one have any insight to this?

Using Edmunds, I compared the Manual 2009 Sport compared to Manual 2010 sport and the 2010 weighed about 20lbs more, which is consistent with everything I have read/seen. Did you add an extra zero lol?

The 07-08 Sedan didn't have the Akebono brakes, not sure the weight difference on those but that is a "heavy" upgrade.

Sport to Sport that the brakes are definitely heavier. Those rotors and calipers are significantly larger and heavier. Speaking from experience having done the brake upgrade.

Also, I know you mentioned 6MT but the 7AT transmission I've heard is at least 150lbs heavier than the 5AT.

The 07 and 08 G sport sedans had 13" rotors all around, not sure how those directly compare to the akebonos but I would have thought the calipers atleast would be heavier on the older models.

I can speak from expirence that I know for a fact my 2011 sedan X weighs 4040 with me in it and some cargo with full tank of gas. I'm around 170lbs. (I took my car to nearest landfill and they weighed my car no problem no questions asked. The scale seemed very accurate.)

So if one weighed it empty on gas (-20 gallons and -170lbs for driver) it would be around 290 lbs less and right at the 3750 lb range. Lol yes I know pretty much a boat.

I have no numbers on how heavy the journey or sport might be, but maybe somebody else can chime in. Figured this is kind of on topic. I would love to hear from somebody the difference in weight of a 5at X sedan to see how much heavier it is.

Just looked it up and the rotors are only 4 lbs heavier F&R so only a net 16lb gain there, the calipers are quite a bit heavier IIRC, but not another 180 lbs worth lol.
They had to use a bigger spare for the Akebonos, so maybe another 40 lbs for all that stuff (spare & calipers), so there's still roughly 145 lbs of mystery??? And like mentioned, maybe there was a mistake and they added the extra weight of the 7AT in the mix.
