First Impressions: Q50 Red Sport 400 Test Drive
^ thanks eljoker! awesome info there. i'm guessing this was the RWD model based on what i could see, and the reference to RWHP.
it would be great to see how much the 3.0TT '300hp' version is, if at all. maybe Stillen has some plans there too...
edit: watched the Stillen video, RWD only. still, this gives us an idea of the actual power output which seems well over 400hp at the crank, and ~400 lb-ft. interesting to see the 2.0T is underrated as well.
the Stillen guys were saying typical 3.7 dynos were in the 270 rwhp range so a bunch more than 70hp behind the new 3.0T if you compare the 328hp/400hp ratings respectively.

I think this is going to be my next car possibly. I have yet to test drive one but I'm just worried that the 7AT just shifts too slowly in manual mode. Anyone have any comment on the latest implementation of the 7AT?
Up shifting and down shifting via paddles was super fast... Or at least compared to using the gear selector on my g37x
I pulled the car from about 40-100 with the pedal down and the car in spot mode on a test drive. She's "proper quick"

Great to hear! Slow manual shifting has always been my biggest complaint with the 7AT.
Motor Trend is at it again...
MT already had a negative mind set even before this review...just more bashing on their part.
Although the reviewer tried to make this entertaining, it only reflected himself as unprofessional...how could you take him seriously?
If his intention was to "trick" the DAS and had to work at it to do so, then I think DAS did what it supposed to do.
The conclusion regarding Infiniti's direction is all wrong in my opinion...his 3 wrongs are my 3 rights!
Infiniti is making vehicles that produce a harmonious design which includes power, luxury and technology...well rounded products.

I hadn't heard about those steering issues, and I'm sure they'd be non-issues for my use case, but he is right about that cabin interior. Having so many interfaces with so many different stylings looks and feels sloppy. That said, anyone springing for this particular model isn't in it for the interior, but it really wouldn't have taken them much more time/effort/money to put it together a bit better.
At first reaction, the harsh criticisms annoy me. (Those given by MT and other sources).
But we should welcome these scrutinizations of any new Nissan/Infiniti vehicles.
If there are ways to improve this brand new vehicle, we should welcome it.
But really, this is a beautiful car, presumable very reliable (hopefully), with a twin turbo V6.
Honestly, "quirky steering" and "mis-matched screens" would not deter me from wanting this vehicle.

I actually think it was a pretty good review
Virtually everyone has criticized the DAS steering.
The interior pieces do look mismatched.
The car is fast. And it's better on the street than the track. But that is where the vast majority of people are going to drive, and lots of them can probably overlook a mismatched interior and crappy steering.
I think this car was more about phasing out the 3.7 for CAFE than creating a M3 competitor. As an added bonus you get a turbo V6 and 400HP.
