Once you tint your windows that won't be very noticeable at all.

great review. I wonder how many people will be jumping ship to the European brands considering the sticker price and NO 6MT.
The no 6MT was a deal breaker for me for I would have liked to stay in the infiniti fam. I ended up with a M3

time will tell if the new Q60 coupe will keep the 6MT. my dealer didn't know, and everything i've seen indicate they are dropping it:

2017 Infiniti Q60 Coupe debuts with 400-hp V6 - Autoblog

looks like Infiniti brand loyalists are SOL if a 3rd pedal is a must. if they brought in an engaging dual-clutch that may keep a few of us around. otherwise, going German or ATS-V seems to be the only route, albeit for a higher sticker price.

If this is true, what's stopping people from buying the 300hp version and running higher boost to arrive at 400+ hp?

^ i'm sure eljoker knows more, but my dealer said different turbos, turbo speed sensors, exhaust, tune. and also different wheels. aside from the red S and different wheels though there is no visual cues. the 300hp can be had with all the same Sport equipment as the RS400. the RS400 also comes with illuminated kickplates standard, at least in Canada. big whoop, these are an available accessory on all other Q50s.

As far as I know, 2 water pumps on the RS400 and optical turbo sensors. Im not sure on the exhaust but maybe that Gatling gun tips. If I could get a damn 3.0t here I could get it on the lift and try to decipher what else is on it.

300hp variant runs 8.7 pounds of boost and the 400hp runs 14.7 pounds of boost...might be .1 off but what eljoker said. From what I understand, the turbos are the same.

Nothing in theory, except that the 400hp factory tune may be looking for the optical sensor. Maybe if you're friends with an Infiniti tech, they could flash the 400hp ROM into the ECU and add the second water pump + turbo sensor...but buying those parts individually may be more expensive than just getting the 400 to begin with.

I suspect that once EcuTek gets a hold of the car, we'll see that the 300hp variant will offer some great bang for the buck. I think the block will easily be capable of 550-600hp.

If you don't mind having the 7AT, these are fascinating times to be a Q owner.

From: Framingham Ma,
Wold be really interested if there is any difference other than visual, if turbos are the same the only difference is boost pressure, that's a easy choice to go the 300HP version then just tune it, Heck for 10K less

An what was that old Boost=HP logic? 1 PSI + 15 HP?

Unless they have changed it since this was published in the US the base prices are:

RWD: $48,855
AWD: $50,855

400-HP Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 Starts at $48,855 ? News ? Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog

Which if I could get a brand new Q50 RS400 for $48k with heated sport seats, paddle shifters, and the sport pack w/ adaptive suspension. That is a pretty good bargain in my opinion.

As above, the Q50 Red Sport starts at $48,900. When configured similarly it is about $4k more than the 300 HP model.
