You know, although the M3 engine is great (v8 I'm assuming you want), I'm not impressed with the way it looks, inside or out. Making the price unjustifiable. The new mustangs are comfortable and fast and nice to look at, but problem is they are way too common. I don't think I'd take an m3, or even a 335i even if it was free, because of cost of maintenence. BUT!- if money doesn't matter, I imagine M3 is a great car to own and drive.
There's a LOT of things more comfortable than my car at the moment. This all started by driving my friend's M3 for about an hour and falling in love with it. More comfortable than my car with good performance. If only it wasn't so expensive with all the options I want. But since it's a long term plan, I've narrowed it down to an M3, an Audi S6, and the Q50 Red Sport.

M3 is my ultimate (attainable) dream car. one day. I love everything about them except maintenance costs...... but even the 335i I test drove with the 6sp was so smooth and crisp and had some neat features. just felt more refined and quick than our cars. but with stories of turbos blowing at 80k miles no thanks......

I feel like the S6 is a little on the higher end to compare with the M3 and Q50 red Sport. Wouldn't an S4 or S5 be more of a better fit?
